Why train to be a Massage Therapist?
Massage Therapists are in demand! Massage has been used to relieve pain and promote healing since ancient times, and is now more popular than ever. Massage Therapists enjoy a flexible schedule, often choosing how many days a week to work, or how many massages per week to perform, allowing them to create a schedule that works for them. Massage Therapists are paid well too! Massage school graduates that perform an average of 15 massages per week can expect to earn at least $30,000 per year and experienced Massage Therapists earn $40- $60/hour or more.
What does a Massage Therapist do?
Massage Therapists use therapeutic touch to provide relaxation, relieve pain and stress, and rehabilitate injuries. They often utilize a variety of massage and holistic techniques to aid in the well-being of the body- essentially making their clients feel good!
Where can Massage Therapists work?
Massage Therapists can work anywhere there are people! A Massage Therapist may be a self-employed independent contractor, or may be employed in a variety of settings including spas and fitness centers, inside medical practices, and with Physical Therapists and Chiropractors. Massage Therapists might also find employment at hotels, resorts, cruise ships, or with sports teams.
What is the job outlook for Massage Therapists?
The field of Massage Therapy is rapidly expanding and certified Massage Therapists are in high demand. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field is projected to grow by 23% from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations.
Why enroll in IBT’s Massage Therapy Program?
IBT offers a nine-month Massage Training program and is a California Massage Therapy Council approved school. At IBT, students are taught human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology and nutrition. Additionally, students of Massage Therapy learn about Massage theory and history, and of course, massage techniques and practice. Because Massage Therapy training is hands-on and requires hundreds of hours of practice, IBT’s program includes an on-site clinic.
Graduates receive assistance in completing the required documents to become licensed in California and are prepared to sit for the MBLEX and CAMTC certifications. Plus, every graduate from IBT’s program receives a massage table, including head rest, bolster, carrying case, and a set of sheets- so you’ll be ready to get to work!
